All Spiritual Traditions point to the mystery of Life and Death as key to our spiritual evolution. The facing of death in the midst of life is at the very heart of opening our heart. It is also at the heart of the question Who Dies? This question in itself leads us deep into our true nature. Today there is new research about nde’s, past life research and the processes of dying and consciousness as well that can shed new light on this ancient reflection. The Pathwork Lectures say that our fundamental difficulty is a dualistic consciousness and that life vs. death is the most fundamental of all dualites. We are here evolving beyond this phase of consciousness into the greater consciousness dwelling within each soul. This greater consciousness has the capacity to say yes to it all and since death is a part of life, including all the little deaths we die everyday, learning to live with the process of death, dying and resurrection, can be of great practical value for living a full rich life. Please join me in this interactive exploration of the most important topic in life.
As a culture we deny, refuse and resist death at a great cost to us all. Mainly, we don’t discover its role in our evolution and healing. So in this series we will explore death in the midst of life and what happens in the dying process and beyond, from several different angles.
Many feel since there is nothing we can know about death or the afterlife, why think about it. Others have answers they find comfort in, so they relate to the big death through their religious and cultural beliefs. Often using these to mask a deep underlying fear. Afterall who can really know? We all face that seemingly final event as we have all other experiences, alone and without complete comprehension.
Belief is inadequate to carry us through the immensities of life and death. We cannot help but wonder and tremble. What happens when we die? What happens to me and what happened to my loved ones who have gone before. Will I see them again. Will I be reborn or find a final judgement or will I just cease to be.
What is the meaning of Life in the face of death, and what about the many smaller deaths that we all face in life. Loss of home or loved ones or livelihood are all deaths in their own right. Even small disappointments can feel like death. The questions can be held off for a time but eventually we are each touched by the mystery.
With modern research into nde’s, past life recollection and consciousness itself, we are expanding our awareness and understanding and we are also beginning to ask some new questions. What does death have to do with awakening or enlightened consciousness? What does death have to do with living fully and meaningfully in life? What does death have to do with opening the heart.
These are the deeper questions we will explore through various sources, from modern research and personal stories, from channeled spirits to great spiritual literature like the Tibetan Book of the Dead, and from nearing death and shamanic experiences that are increasingly reported.
If death is not the enemy what can we do to meet the big and little deaths of life. How do we strengthen our faith in the unknown, the in between, the passage from one state to another. It happens within each life as well as between them. How do we remember it is all ok, so we can relax into it and lessen the suffering. To the caterpillar it is the end of the world, to the master it is a butterfly.
This three part Seminar will be offered Thursday evenings 8-9:30 November 3, 10, and 17.
I hope this will be a really rich contemplation and that each of the participants will bring their own depth and experiences. May this course inspire you to a whole new level of your spiritual development.
It is a complete course but also serves as an introduction to the residential Pathwork Mystery School Program I will be teaching next year.
Both are great for hospice workers and death dulas, and people like me who are filling in the later years of life with the big questions looming larger. It can also be for the middle age person going through a life crises or a young person trying to crack the mystery codes to put life on the right footing.
For more information please feel free to contact me at 540 752 5540.
